This blog was inspired by a facebook comment someone made in response to a facebook post by a big shot geneticist about a paper published in a vanity journal that reported on a finding that a lot of people have disagreed with. Ironically, none of that has to do with science journalism, the topic with which this blog will purportedly deal. However, the paper in question was incredibly hyped by the funding agency, and a shit-ton of science reporting is done via press release . . . and why the fuck should I have to justify any of this anyway? Let's work together to accomplish something! Now that the FJM boys have successfully gotten ESPN to remove Joe Morgan from the booth, we'll try to use their model to oust Nicholas Wade from the pages of the New York Times.
So, what's the science journalism equivalent of OPS?
